Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone has recovered from the past weekend of sugar-rush deteriorating to chocolate coma followed by crazed insanity.  And don’t get me started on my kids’ glucose-induced behaviour!

We are madly rushing toward the final holiday season of the year and that means projects, shopping, expectations and generally un-attainable dreams of the perfect Christmas/Hannukah/Kwansa/fill-in-the-blank that will test your patience, bank account and optimism until the last gourmet cookie crumb, scrap of tinsel and family heirloom is vacuumed up or lovingly bubble wrapped and packed away until next year.

I have absolutely been guilty of over-achieving for the holidays and I am determined to STOP the madness this year.  Mainly because I cannot afford whatever latest techno-gadget is all the rage for kids this year but also because I get crabby. And, since I have finally learned how to make the perfect martini, I thought I would just put out a box of Pot-of-Gold, slap on Charlie Brown Christmas in the DVD and ‘Dean Martin’ my way to the New Year?  Ok, I may bake a few cookies and let the kids decorate this year.  I think despite my neurotic obsession for complete control I can finally agree to give up the Christmas tree task.  And, I do enjoy ordering in for Christmas Day dinner.

Because no matter what insane holiday mania you decide to commit to, at the end of December, we will all have made an extra effort to spend time together with friends and family, we will have participated in one or two activities with our immediate family that will produce a photo or possibly an Instagram moment and we may even achieve a few minutes IN A ROW of family harmony and we will be richer for it.

And that my friends, ‘is what Christmas is all about’ (did you see what I did there?  Ah, but you have to know your Charlie Brown).

Jingle On Everybody!

Until next month,

Save the Date: January 1, 2016 Please join me and my family for a Family Skate at Kerrisdale Rink  from 3-5 in the afternoon.  There will be skate rentals, snacks and of course hot chocolate.
