Can you believe it, we are into the last month of school days for this 2015-16 academic year.  I wonder what everyone has planned for the next couple months?

We sort of end up doing a variation of the same schedule every year but perhaps my list can inspire a few new ideas for those of you who want to shake things up this summer.

End of June
– school is out, panic sets in, did you register for summer camp yet?
– pick strawberries and make jam

Month of July
– road trip to the Okanagan to see the parents where the following activities take place; swimming, camping, fishing, gardening, quad rides, beach days, thrifting
– Vancouver community centre camps, swim lessons, tennis…
– trying out some new food trucks in various locations across the City
– Cultus Lake Water slide day trip including picnic
– Go to a Canadian’s baseball game (preferably one with a give-away or A&W float day)
– Beach days during any low tide week
– family birthday and celebrations including backyard BBQ’s and picnics at the parks
– we try to see at least one firework display at the Festival of Lights

Month of August
– 8-10 day road trip; destinations to consider; Drumheller, Oregon Coast and North California, Fraser Canyon, Barkerville and North BC, Seattle or Victoria
– Pajo’s in Steveston for fish and chips
– movie night
– lemonade stand
– another week of day camp in Vancouver
– peach jam time
– Oliver camping trip with a few other families including; swimming, wine tours, hiking, geo-cashing, campfire cooking
– PNE day

Labour Day long weekend
– last weekend up at Whistler or camping in the lower mainland
– back to school supplies and clothes shopping

We also try to get to some of the messier art projects the kids want to try; tie dye and papier mache plus this year we will try to build a tree-fort!

And then it’s over.  Just like that, the time flies and we are heading back to school and all the Fall activities that will take us to the end of another year.

Like many of you, I have to find time to entertain the kids and work over the next couple months so flexibility and options are the keys to a successful summer.  If we don’t get to everything on our list this year, then we have a whole bunch of choices to start us off next year.

Good luck this month and have a great summer!

Something June!
