I do try to keep this column for personal anecdotes and family updates but I am after all, a Realtor (TM) and this is sort of an industry related correspondence so if you will permit me, this month I would like to mention briefly that the market continues to be quite HOT. Prices for houses have dropped slightly from last year’s high point and may be hovering at the brink of another downward dip. The stumbling block here is that homeowners are reluctant to lower their expectations yet so it may be some time before the market corrects further for this particular inventory but condos have really taken off and prices can be expected to rise going forward into Spring as supply remains low and these dwellings remain affordable (relatively speaking). Call me or send your friends. I will take care of them!

OK, done.

We have a dog! Her name is Lacey and she is a rescue from North Vancouver SPCA. She is a husky/collie cross and so far doesn’t pee in the house, beg, shed, jump on the furniture, bark, attack you (lol) or run out of control when out for a walk (sudden squirrel sightings notwithstanding).

So, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop…we can’t possibly have lucked out so favorably. Our life isn’t like that. I keep thinking she will run away, come down with an extreme case of scabies/worms/fleas, be pregnant, attack us in our sleep the list is long and admirably creative. It begs the question…why not just enjoy this wonderful stroke of good fortune? Cause it’s not my nature. I am incurably neurotic and always expecting the worst. (I did mention in my last post that the dog might be good for us, I meant me) So, I give her a tummy rub and while I scour my hands afterward with the thoroughness of a good hazmat professional, I ponder the possibility that maybe she is just a breath of fresh air and happiness for our little nuclear family and maybe a positive karma kick back for rescuing her in the first place.

Who knows? For now, I will try to enjoy the peace and harmony that she has brought while it lasts. Thank you Lacey!
